The Trip!

12/31/2008 - 1/12/2009

New Years Eve started with a nice but short visit with Linda's mother and father.

We met an artist who was performing for New Years at Blue Sky - a neat food channel restaurant where we had very spicy but good food.

On the way out of Amarillo we drove past the famous sunken caddie's.

We drove from Albuquerque to San Diego through the Desert Dunes.

The San Diego Zoo was a rare high light of this trip. our favorite animal of the entire zoo - Baby and Momma panda.

We had to visit and take pictures twice. I think this was the happiest moments of this trip.

Near the Hearst Castle we always stop for the elephant seals. We also had a flat tire  and a young man and his young lady stopped and changed it for  us.

Whale watching was another nice time.

Yosemite NP in the winter is very beautiful.

Las Vegas was busy as usual.

Zion NP was very cold but also beautiful.

We did not see many animals but this antelope and turkey were on the road from Zion to Bryce before we turned onto highway 12.

Highway 12 us a most scenic road through Bryce and so many other special places.

This day summed up this trip in a nutshell!! it was an excruciatingly horrible day yet we were so grateful to have survived. There were two tows at a cost of $500 and we could have been killed easily and yet we did fine and survived. The white pickup truck should have been in at least a dozen accidents all of which would have been serious if not fatal. He wasn't - everyone missed him while we watched and prayed no one would hit us. The mountain before Vail and the mountain to the tunnel is where all this took place.
