Darkness into Light

The First Days of Life

Life is upon you and your eyes are open

Still you cannot see any more than you can hear

You cannot speak and still you make sounds

You feel but not understand what it is you feel

You smile as gas explodes from within

 For perhaps the only time in your life

You have no control and you do not care

For you do not know what control is, yet

Then you begin to learn

You make the right noise and perhaps someone will come

If they come you make the noise again and you are learning

If they don’t come you make the noise again and you are learning

Darkness can be feeling alone and not warm

Light can be experiencing warmth and being held

The might be the first experience you have of darkness and light

It will not be your last!
