Darkness into Light
Current Reflection
Looking at where one has gone and come from
Looking at where you are this moment
Allows for the Light to shine so very brightly
From seeing God’s animals huge and small up close and personal
Two and four legged whether in Africa, Europe, Hawaii or Kansas
A smile creeps inevitably on your person
A warmth begins to build within as you remember and gasp
So much you have seen with your own eyes
So much you have felt with your own body
The reality of hope become real and joy dreamed about
A sun setting in Puerto Rico, Hawaii and fire roaring into the ocean
A grand elephant so close you could reach out touch and be touched
The beauty of a grand home that withstood immense darkness and somehow survived
Standing in the green glow of tall towering very old trees, barely seeing sunlight
Stately horses looking at you and wondering what you are doing in their presence
On the top of a hill mountain looking down on God’s Creations
You wanting to scream your love and joy at being there
Sharing each and every moment with the one God gave you to love and be loved by
And oh, the flowers you have seen and touched and sensed
Opening, closing, beginning, fully bloomed, and gloriously dying
This takes my breath away and reflects what I hope somehow my life is
This is Light in the fullness of God!
Watching a grandchild as she begins her new life full of hope, untamed and brave
Knowing she will face darkness and praying it not be as dark as yours has been
Praying she will find her way to light through You and someone to love and to be loved by
Coming back to flowers of all colors, shapes, size and smells
Thinking about how in darkness flowers often were the gift that lifted you
Thinking about living in an old age where you can only remember the strength
Strength that allowed you to escape the deep darkness of most of your life
The Love of your wife, your God and the glory they bestowed upon you
This was a year of heaven on earth and I cry tears of thankfulness
My being has trouble allowing me to express what this time has meant
There is no way to eliminate the darkness that plagued your life
Still this year has really been somewhat Perfect Light and oh how I thank God for it!
There is Light and we are that Light embraced
None of us have any idea what the next moment will bring
There is Light this year and this moment
Thank You!
