Christmas Trip- 2002 -SD Zoo 1st Rose Bowl

This was to be an extraordinary trip which we could never duplicate. I suppose that is true of all of our many trips. Each has been so very special in it's own way. This however gave us many first experiences which we have really enjoyed remembering. Driving through Albuquerque we saw a hot air balloon. We saw and drove through the Painted Desert with snow on it.

We went to the Grand Canyon where we enjoyed the splendor a majestic sunset.

We cut across the desert  on our way to San Diego. We passed by sand dunes with people in sand buggies, trucks and atv's racing on them. We passed by a turtle reserve.

We went whale watching San Diego going out through the San Diego Naval Yard.  We took amazing pictures of airplanes close to the San Diego skyline.

We took the tram around the San Diego Zoo Animal Park.

At the regular Zoo we made a decision to go to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena and it was an incredible time.

We spent the night on the street with newly met friends and stayed warm and loaned out cell phones and just enjoyed everything including the parade.

If that wasn't enough we drove through Zion NP in the winter and then on to Jackson , Wyoming for a winter visit. We took many stunning pictures of animals and the Wonderful Grand Tetons - all covered in snow.

Then to top the trip off, we took a day trip into Yellowstone NP from the Flagg Ranch. Just before getting to the Ranch, we saw and took pictures of a huge moose crossing an icy snow covered river.  This was something that we will never forget seeing.

We bounced all day in one of their snow buggies. We saw Old Faithful in the middle of winter with snow all over.
