Wisconsin
This year on our 48th Anniversary Trip, we stopped overnight in the Dells where we took a great tour of the Upper Dells.
On the tour we stopped and took a green trail that was much like being in a Green Cathedral.
The whole trip was very nice and green and somewhat cool in temperature.
We drove on to Lacrosse where we visited with friends and attended the Loggers baseball game. We saw beautiful red barns in green fields as we drove there.
My earliest memories is when I was in high school going to Green Bay
From Sault Ste. Marie via back roads
The trip was to take a classmate and friend to the Seminary there and was through green wooded forest the entire way
We have driven Highway 2 across the top of the state
Later in life we drove Interstate 94 completely
From beginning to end and both ways many times
Again the land is all green slightly rolling hills and some dairy farms
Eau Claire, Black River Falls and on to Madison where we always stopped
at a Shaky's Pizza place and sometimes even spent the night
We have driven through the Wisconsin Dells and past the Dells and remember
from the Interstate you can see a Dog Racing Track as you are driving
We once drove through a massive thunderstorm near the Dells
In Baraboo we have taken in the Circus and visited what is now Circus World
I remember going to a circus in a tent there and having a fun day
Linda and Sister Donna Jean, a friend and fellow worker,
went to summer classes in Milwaukee at Sacred Heart School of Theology
Once they got lost and Linda explained they were not lost but rather simply exploring,
hard for Donna Jean to understand, but a part of Linda's being
We have purchased cheese in Wisconsin and besides being more expensive
than in a regular store, it was good
For all the time we have spent driving through this state, we simply don't have many memories of it
The memories we have are all of what we have said before, Slightly rolling hilly very green lush country with deer The circus at Baraboo and
the Dells would seem to be the main attraction and we like the circus best! The visiting with friends and the wonderful atmosphere of a
ballgame in Lacrosse are now our favorite memories of Wisconsin.
In October, 2013, Linda and I drove through the small peninsula near Green Bay. We visited a USBA Baseball friend
and toured Our Lady of good Help Shrine. One highlight was the amazing colors everywhere.
We bought Cheese at Renard's and apples at a roadside farm.
