Pennsylvania
Interstate 79 north to south from Erie to West Virginia, Interstate 80
Across the heart of Pennsylvania
Of course the Pennsylvania turnpike filled with holes, construction, tunnels and magnificent views
From Scranton south from New York into the great city of Philadelphia
Well we have driven them all and even more
The drive from Harrisburg into Gettysburg and all the small narrow green land around Gettysburg
We have picked strawberries in a you pick-em field near Lancaster amid the ever present Amish
Lancaster is a town filled with Amish buggy's and farms and isn't quaint but rather special and has a very peaceful aura
Pennsylvania is indeed one of our prettiest states
We have been to Hershey Park many times and the last with our grandchildren and other young people
We rode the water rollercoaster and had our pictures taken
We tasted chocolate in the Hershey Chocolate Factory and spent the night in Hershey Pa
Hershey Park is a fun theme park for young and old and we like it
Gettysburg is a somber place that has way too much commercialism
Still there is no way you can visit without a since of what is there
The History of freedom and our country is summed up in Gettysburg
We have gone to the Panorama in the winter with no one else there and in the summer
when you had to wait hours
We have driven every road we could to see all that we could
The stone walls, brick roadways and monuments of every size and shape in every direction
We saw things each time that meant something different to us and
we felt different things every visit
It is most beautiful with snow gently falling over the quiet fields of glory
This is surprisingly to us one of our favorite places
Every human should visit and ponder this incredible place with its history and beauty
We have driven through Williamsport and thought the Little League Stadium was perfect
We have driven through Joe Namath's home town of Beaver Falls and
marvelled at how small it seemed
We have visited Valley Forge and shopped at
the incredibly large shopping outlets near Reading
It is a state where you can be caught up for hours on hours in unending traffic
It is a state where you can drive for hours through
gentle rolling green country with history all around
We remember driving past miniature horse farms near Gettysburg and
always stopping in Gettysburg no matter how little time we had
We have so many memories of the turnpike,
running out of gas just past a tunnel with a young unwed mother on her first trip anywhere
She was so panicky until she realized we were just fine and so we were
as someone stopped and gave us enough gas to get to a station
We went to a great Greek dinner with a wonderful belly dancer in Lebanon one trip and
have never forgotten the experience
We have driven past and through and into all the great Steel Mill Cities
We once drove to Philadelphia from Havre de Grace,
Maryland through Delaware and New Jersey
Where we bought Linda a small black and white TV as
I was entering Officer Candidate School
The drive was at night through traffic and we were so young and nothing mattered but us
We visited and toured Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station well before the accident
Many memories of a large pretty state of green fields often white with snow
