New York City
For us New York City is a magical and so very busy all the time place
Most of the time we have spent in the City was in Manhattan
Our first time in the City was perhaps our most memorable
We flew in to LaGuardia late at night and shared a ride with a J C Penny executive downtown
It had just snowed and he was staying at the J C Penny Building and we were at the Squires Century Center near Times Square
We were there for the Toy Show and checked in with a mega superstar at the same time
We were so excited that we could not sleep and got up and went down to the street
We walked, looked in windows and had a breakfast and then went back to our rooms
The City was so alive and so were we, was indeed a special magical moment
We went to the Jewellery district and amid the Jewish sellers
We saw many wonderful diamonds for sale
We walked blocks and blocks and had huge incredible deli sandwiches
We walked down 42nd Street and were carefully watched and guided back to a more safe area by two City "Cops".
We ate at Mama Leone's during Mardi Gras time and it was an experience not to be forgotten
We rode in a carriage in Central Park and we went to our first Broadway shows
We purchased half price tickets in Times Square and we sat center isle, 4th row for Woman of the Year
Debbie Reynolds was the star and a great Tony Award winning woman sang, It's Wonderful" and it was
We saw Merlin with Chita Rivera and Doug Henning and it closed soon after
We saw David Dukes in Amadeus and it was beyond belief great
Finally we saw Joseph with an un-named understudy and it was the highlight of Broadway for us
Such a magical time this was
We went to the top of the Empire State Building and we rode in subways and taxi cabs that were very interesting
We also went to the top of the Empire State Building at night and took so so pictures but the sights remain vivid in our mind
Later we would return to NYC with several of our grandchildren and go to a Yankee Game in the Bronx
Of course we have seen the Statue of Liberty and taken a Harbor Dinner Cruise
Teaching Sadie to bargain for an inexpensive watch in the wholesale district was a lot of fun
People have always treated us nice in this City
We drove past the September 11 Memorial, such a sad time and place, our hearts and money went out to them during that horrible time
We watched our grandchildren and their school choir sing at Carnegie Hall in a Western Tribute
Our grandchildren posed with NYC Mime's and we took family pictures and saw an umbrella art exhibit in the park before taking a dinner cruise of the harbor
We went with them to the Museum of Natural History and we have bought many street items from Street Vendors
The neatest of which I think are "fake" Rolex and Movado watches which look so real and cost so little
We helped our granddaughters and school friends buy "knock off" designer purses
This was great fun and I don't think did any damage to anyone ever
On this trip we went to Wicked on Broadway and any Broadway Show on Broadway is just fabulous
We rode both in a limousine and a bicycle rickshaw on this trip
When I was young and on the way to New Hampshire with my mom and dad, we drove on a parkways skirting the City
Funny we never really visited the World Trade Centers, I mean you always saw them but did not go to visit
I bought my first computer, a Commodore 64 there and I came into Grand Central Station as young man on the way to the Seminary in Callicoon so many years ago
One of my nicest memories is of sitting with Gigi in Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Deli in Times Square and watching people
People watching in New York City are one of the main attractions and cannot be missed
St. Patrick's, Rockefeller Center and the ice skating rink and just being there is so neat
Another is exploring all the wonderful department stores such as Macy’s, Saks, Bloomingdale's and so many others now closed
We rode wooden escalator's that were quaint but very neat and unusual just like the subways
The Christmas Department Store Window displays at night are especially compelling
We have been through and to and hope we get to visit again this very neat City!
Our minds and being are filled with so many memories of this neat place
