Kentucky
I have always thought Kentucky was a very pretty state
Driving south to Lexington and then taking the time
To drive through all the wonderful horse farms
We have stopped and toured the big horse park there
We have also visited small horse farms
Once we were allowed to touch a huge gelding that had run in the Derby
We have visited the Man O War Statue when
It was in its original location and also in its new place at the horse farm
Once on a back road in search of the statue
Linda left a monument of her own which is remembered with glee by her family
Mammoth Cave has been a place of many many memories for us
Carrying our two daughters (we only had two way back then) wet and crying
Up a 100 plus staircase is actually a fond memory
Camping there with children is another memory and staying in the white hotel
When I was young yet another
Driving there in our motor home with friends yet another memory
The eastern part of the state has many flea markets and Linda and
I have joyfully visited a few of them
Spending time in Louisville visiting our friends and being there
For his graduation from College another memory
The last time we were in Louisville we stayed at a rundown hotel that once was a great place
Driving along the river is a pretty and interesting drive
I-75 I would think is the most known of the interstates and is the main north south route
The Blue Grass Parkway is green and not blue but still a pretty drive
Towns like Owensboro, Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, and Campbellsville
Dot the landscape
The Land Between The Lakes with its monument to Jefferson Davis is a neat place to visit
A small replica of the Washington Monument
Dedicated to Jeff Davis of all things hidden in this place
Cumberland Falls is one of my favorite memories of Kentucky
The long climb out of Ohio and up past Covington is another of the drives often taken
Beautiful horses in a horse like setting all green and white fences are
What we remember most about Kentucky
