Idaho

(Revised -7/6/2012)

My father once told me the most beautiful lake in the world was in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The first time I saw this lake I was on a train going to Seattle in 1957

It was a snowy day and the lake appeared to be frozen

The first time I really saw this lake was with my wife coming back from Alaska

I remember how beautifully clear the water was

My wife and I have crossed this small state many times always on the way to somewhere

We have crossed both at the top and the bottom

Eagles nesting on the interstate are among our memories

We have driven up the state to Idaho Falls and have spent the night there

We ate dinner at a Chinese Restaurant in Twin Falls and spent the night there

I remember traveling along a valley floor at the edge of mountains

Until I lived in North Dakota I always believed Idaho potatoes were the best

I remember a rather large valley that was all potato farming

We drove highway 2 across the smallest part of the state

This took us past a big pretty moose area but saw none

There is a strong Mormon influence in Idaho

Someday it would be really nice to spend more time exploring what seems to be a beautiful scenic state!

On our 47th wedding anniversary trip this year (2012), Linda and I had the opportunity to not only drive through,

but spend the night and take some pictures in this interesting and unusual State. We stayed in Twin Falls and went to the Canyon bridge where

took some wonderful pictures with the sun shining brightly.

We also stopped in Idaho Falls and took pictures of the Mormon Temple behind their falls.

There was a beautiful metal sculpture here and we agreed we had never seen it before.

On the way to Twin Falls we stopped and looked for covered wagon ruts on the original Oregon Trail.
