California - 3
Today I begin with Sequoia National Park
Actually it is two different parks united by a nice winding visual road
If you begin at the northern entrance you first will visit the Giant Sequoia National Monument
You should as we have often done, walk the loop around and through the trees
It is impossible to see over the top of the trees but you try anyway
The drive to Kings Canyon is very winding with sheer edges
We stopped almost at the bottom once for a memorable few minutes
After all what are beautiful rest areas for?
We have driven to the end of the road in Kings Canyon
I think sometime we might even like to go into the wilderness
Back up at the top you continue to the Visalia entrance to Sequoia NP
We have camped there in a beautiful campground and we have explored from there
Bears are almost everywhere but don't bother you and we try never to bother them
Circle valley is a very easy and nice walk that Linda and I have taken
The tall spectacular trees are only a part, the biggest part of this park
And then there is Yosemite
Again we have been there many times
The best place to explore from is anywhere but we love Oakhurst
As you enter from the Bed of Roses B&B, ten miles later you are at the Mariposa Groves
These tress are wonderful and we have walked and taken many pictures there
Further down into the park, there is another don't miss sight
The drive up and down Glacier Point road is scary nice especially in the night after viewing Glacier Point with a full moon
Glacier point is a must see in Yosemite and cannot be missed, day or night
The valley is where most of the action takes place with Linda's love of the "big rock mountain"
Our shared love for Yosemite Falls and the wonderful easy walk to and from
Easy except sometimes for the mosquitoes
Bridal Falls is another don't miss, heck Yosemite is a don't miss
We have driven into and out this park on every accessible road
Even through Death Valley which surprised us with its unique beauty and hot temperatures
We have driven into Reno from and to the desert
We were asked nicely by the Highway patrol to drive a little faster instead of gawking at a wild fire near Reno
We have had to chain up which meant buying chains as we crossed the mountains near Reno
We have enjoyed a drive around Lake Tahoe, a Renaissance Fair there, and harness racing in Sacramento
We have driven up and down this state from Oregon to San Diego
Across it and in between through new homes built far from cities and unsold
The fruit stands that are constantly available with great variety of fruits and vegetables
It would be easy to say we have traversed every part of this state and loved it
The truth be told we have only experienced a part of this great state!
