Arizona
A land of vast see able differences all of which have beauty
First you must start with the Grand Canyon of which I have written about much
Two rims separated by the deepest of valley's with a raging river at its center
We have experienced in detail the top of both rims
We have enjoyed sunsets and sunrises and camped and stayed at a rim cabin
No matter how you experience the Grand Canyon it will be unforgettable
There is nothing quite like it anywhere in the world that we have seen
We have driven out through Kayenta and Tuba City once getting gas portioned with water
That caused a brief delay as we had to have our gas lines cleaned
We have experienced Monument Valley and could easily see John Wayne riding toward the sunset
South out of Flagstaff you drive a winding road through wooded forest land into Sedona
We visited the wonderful Chapel designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude not Frank Lloyd Wright
It is magnificent and a real holy place in the middle of a mystical land
We have driven up the narrow winding road to the top of a plateau with barely enough room to make the curve
We have driven south to Nogales and then into Mexico to buy medicine we could afford nowhere else
Once a long time ago Linda, my sister Maggie and I went nightclubbing in Nogales
We have stopped at casinos and mission churches on the way to Nogales
Going from Tucson toward California next to Mexico with the wind howling at you
We even have been to Colorado City where plural marriage is practiced openly
We spoke with some women there who were cordial but not overly friendly
We saw the walls around homes and the suspicious looks from people living in the city
One of the neatest things we ever did as a family was to tent camp in a "wash" in the middle of the Painted Desert
Linda and I got up around 4 in the morning and just looked at the stars while our daughters were snoring in their tent
The Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert are beautiful places
Later with Gigi, Grant, Zach, Sadie and Portia we stopped and walked down into Painted Desert and had a wonderful time
Snowy mountains, flat steaming hot deserts, tall cactus, incredible valley's, great wooded forest
Arizona offers much in diversity and people
We once got sick on a hamburger bought in Prescott
We watched Spring Training one glorious week in Phoenix which I will never forget
Arizona is a state filled with many memories most of which are good
We visited my mom and dad when Dad was stationed at Luke Air Force Base
Seems like you can see the Flagstaff Mountains for hours as the sun slowly sets in the west
So many roads and each filled with beautiful picturesque scenery!
