Feast of the Immaculate Conception –1984

The Prayer of a Husband and Father

I sit here waiting, hoping,

That what my family needs,

Will be provided for,

I am fretful, leery,

More than just a little worried.

What must Mary have felt,

Can you imagine being

A young, single woman,

Pregnant,

No physical proof of who the father might be,

I mean,

Having only an angel’s word,

Yet,

Mary never, not even once,

Hesitated or questioned,

Her circumstance,

I believe,

She truly accepted that God would provide,

I wish I had such strong faith,

Circumstance has led me to life in doubt,

In fear,

I ask today,

This special Mary Day,

To have courage like hers,

To have hope unending,

To have strong unabated faith,

To believe,

God will take care of me and mine.
