37th Anniversary Trip -2002

We spent a short time in the Poudre River Valley just being together and trying to take it easy. This was to be the "Flowers Road" trip.  We camped out on the beautiful Poudre River and took our 4 wheel drive Tracker on an adventure. We drove up "Flowers Road". This was a steep and elephant sized pot hole road. The holes were larger than the Tracker and as exhilarating as it was, it was also frightening. The further we drove up this narrow rocky road the more we became aware we could not turn around. We came up and over a ridge and out of a densely wooded area onto the top of a rocky mountain. We could see people way below us looking at us through binoculars and we were concerned but not too frightened. When we made it down we were informed we had missed the road and instead taken a horse route down a 11,000 foot mountain. Wow! The Forestry Service employees who had been watching us said we were really never in any danger but we were glad to be down.

On this trip we drove up to Long Draw Road where we sat next to a grazing bull moose and watched him for over an hour without any company. This remains the very best and closest we have ever been to such a huge and beautiful Moose.
